Thank you to Congregation Beth Israel, Heritage Pointe, Jewish Family Service, the Pidgeon family, our staff, family members and everyone who participated for the generous support shown to our residents during our recent evacuation due to the fires in San Diego. The kindness and consideration shown to our seniors was beyond our greatest expectations! We are proud to be part of such a caring community.
A few comments from our families and volunteers:
- Now that I've had a good night's sleep and a few minutes at my computer, I want to reiterate what an honor it was for Kevin, Russell and me to be with you, your gracious residents and your outstanding staff. Mary and Chris, my go-to people for questions, always made time to provide answers with a smile. Even at 3:00 a.m. your staff assisted and encouraged your residents. It was a memorable experience for us.
- To everyone at Seacrest Village and the wonderful volunteers at the temple:
My family and I would like to thank you all for the WONDERFUL care you gave my mother during the evacuation. Since everyone in my family was evacuated, I felt that she would be better off with her group...and I was proved correct.
When I spoke to her yesterday, she told me that she felt like she had just returned from a weekend at the Concord! In case you aren't familiar with the Concord, it is a popular hotel in the Catskill Mountains in New York where Jewish people like to go for great entertainment and abundant food. She described to me in detail all the games, entertainment and plentiful delicious food!
Most of all she said that the "treatment couldn't have been better." She said "nothing was too hard for the volunteers and personnel" and that "nothing was too good for the evacuees." She described in detail all the donations...mattresses, pillows, bedding. The food was plentiful...store bought cookies, home baked cookies, figs...and soooo much more! She loved the young volunteers who asked if she needed anything else. She felt welcomed and valued.
- I just heard from my Mom that they were all safe and sound, back at Seacrest. She is high and full of praise for the experience they had during their relocation, and the ensuing treatment they received while gone. I know it takes tremendous effort and dedication to conduct the shelter the way you all did. Thank you to you and all your staff and volunteers for your superb efforts. It is very reassuring to know that we, the families, can feel so secure knowing that our loved ones are being taken care of so well. Please pass this message on to all those who participated in this unique effort. With much gratitude
